ニュース - 当社エレベーターに対する安全点検について

　この度、国土交通省より全国の特定行政庁に対しまして、弊社が現在保守点検をしている全てのエレベーターのロープについて安全点検実施の通知がありました。この通知を受け、弊社は国土交通省と緊密に連携しながら対象となるエレベーター約5,000基の安全点検を進めてまいります。本件につきまして、お客様およびご利用者の皆様にご不安およびご心配をおかけしましたことを深くお詫び申し上げます。

　今回の国土交通省の安全点検実施の背景となりました渋谷駅東口歩道橋に設置された弊社製エレベーターの件につきましては、下記の通りご報告を申し上げます。

　2010年4月23日、月例点検時に当該エレベーターのワイヤーロープ3本のうち1本が破損し、安全装置が作動して自動的に運転を停止した状態であることを弊社技術者が確認いたしました。その後、弊社にて当該ワイヤーロープの交換を完了しております。なお、当該エレベーターにつきましては、毎月月例点検を実施しており、2009年3月に弊社技術者が点検を行った際に同ワイヤーロープへのさびの付着を確認しており、それ以降、継続的に同施設の管理者である国土交通省関東地方整備局東京国道事務所に対して報告を行うとともに、ロープの交換をご提案させていただいておりました。

　弊社では安全を最優先とし、今回の安全点検を実施させていただくだけでなく、今後とも厳重に保守点検を行なってまいりますので、ご理解いただきますようよろしくお願い申し上げます。

Inspection of elevators

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has instructed municipalities and other authorities nationwide to undertake checks of around 5,000 elevators that are maintained by Schindler Elevator K.K.

We are working very closely with the Ministry in ensuring the safety and security of all our units.

This request by the MLIT followed an incident earlier on April 23, 2010 when rust on one of three ropes in a Schindler elevator at a pedestrian bridge near Shibuya Station's east exit caused the unit to be shut down automatically.

In March 2009 Schindler Elevator K.K. maintenance personnel had identified rusting on one of the ropes and notified the operator. We also advised our customer to replace the rope. While these findings posed no risk to the operation of the elevator, our primary concern for safety and security led us to inspect the rope on a monthly basis during our regular inspections. Following the automatic shut-down of the unit, after a breakage in the rope we had identified as at risk, when we were granted access to it, we immediately replaced the parts. The safety of passengers was never at risk.

We are taking this matter very seriously and have been putting all mechanisms in place to ensure that safety and security is the highest priority in the maintenance of all our units.
